First camping trip:

Posted on | June 24, 2012 | 4 Comments

We were very fortunate this past weekend to have an unexpected day off on top of our one day off a pay period we already had.  We quickly looked at the weather forecast and jumped at the chance to take baby Hazel on her first camping trip to the Umpqua River, B's favorite place in the world.  I suited her up in her onesie made by a friend of mine with 'lil camper' written on it, which happened to be the perfect size.

Standing next to the fire pit when we got there, already having a blast.

Shortly after she went down for an afternoon nap.

Friends of ours joined us late, so Hazel happily stayed up past her bedtime watching the fire on momma's lap.

Who do you think got her the red wings hat?

Good morning!  She slept so good next to momma all night and woke up with this look, a bit confused where we were.

I adore the picture below.  She was actually looking past the mobile and up at the tree tops, smiling.

Papa and H waiting for mom to go hiking!

On our way to one of momma's favorite waterfalls!

Back at camp, just hanging out while we eat lunch.

Daddy went fishing so we ventured down river a bit, cooling off on this hot day.  What you don't see if Hazel immediately cried when I touched her toes in the water (sooo cold!).  Sorry H!

Snuggles from momma make it all better.

Back at camp for dinner, and the moquitos were out in full force.  How awesome is this bug netting?

Popcorn by the fire with our wonderful friends!

Night night...

Hazel's morning nap while mom and dad packed up camp!

Asleep by 7 pm that night, slept for twelve hours, camping really took it out of her!

As you can see, we had an absolutely wonderful time.  B got to go fly fishing a few times, which he certainly needed.  Hazel slept great both nights (better than us, actually) and she seemed to truly enjoy being out in nature, constantly smiling and giggling.  It was lovely to be with friends we hadn't seen in a while, and also to spend time together as a family (especially if you read my previous post!).

Can't wait for our next adventure.

Ps: Thank you for all of the comments on my previous post!  It is refreshing to hear that others feel the same way and make it work as well.  Thank you thank you thank you!  Keep me updated if you find the secret to balancing it all ... :)
