A collaboration of resolutions, 2011

You may or may not be an avid reader of my super amazing blog, but I will still remind you of something that happened last August. I came up with an idea called my '3/4 of the year resolutions.' I did this due to my success in completing 2010 resolutions. In that post it included being more "green," accepting our fertility situation, eating salads five days a week, completing a house project, and working on my mental health with yoga, meditation, etc. Despite success in some of the fields, I figure there's no time than 2011 to continue those somewhat botched resolutions.
Let's start with the "go green" resolution - something I have succeeded in if any of those. I have officially been composting since that post, and I now have a good amount soil at the bottom of my bin just prime for the garden. Composting has got us down to my original aim of one small garbage bag a week. We shop locally when we can in regards to groceries, eating out, gifts, etc. My mpg driving is hit & miss, depending on how much of a hurry I'm in (I'm working on it!). However we have been cable free since April, and in 2010 I only had fast food twice (and may I add in shear moments of desperation) - both feats of which I am truly proud of and will continue.
In April we buy chickens (I loooove eggs), and I plan on advancing my gardening skills to more than just a handful of tomatoes, lettuce, and peppers at harvest. So I suppose you can call that a new resolution - to strive to live off our land, be it in small advancements.
Accepting our fertility situation was a bum idea. In August we had our first IUI. Four failed IUI's and thousands of dollars later it was December, and accepting was not in my horizon. It was the grieving/depression/denial stage all combined. But in 2011 we move forward. One foot in front of the other.
Completing two projects - a deck and the spare room - is partially done. B built and finished a gorgeous deck Sept/Oct '10, and I slowly worked on the spare room. The spare room now has a nice futon in it, and less boxes. So success with the deck, yes! Not so much with the room. This year we plan on putting in new flooring in the entryway - and maybe I'll even throw the spare room back on that list. Painting the house is a stretch but why not include that.
Eating salad five days a week and yoga/meditation are my least successful endeavors. In fact, I can assure you I failed miserably. Throughout autumn I was loving squash and artichoke recipes, but winter came & so did cookies and comfort food for my angry uterus. So again I will keep it up & try to eat in season with a bit of flair.
Yoga/meditation may just stay on the list - mostly the meditation part. I am also aching for a spiritual path of some sort. I have been busy reading, talking, and doing a lot of thinking about what's right for me over the last few weeks. I won't delve too deep into this in my blog but I'm feeling good about it.
So there is it - my 2011 resolutions in a super un-concise format. I may be a bit eager, no?
