Gratitude Sunday

Gratitute Sunday
A heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes:
- Bath time (well, actually shower time with ma) and how much little H is starting to enjoy it! She has a look of contentment the entire time, and even loves getting dried off by daddy!
- A dinner out with our little family of three. The entire month of March has been just dreadful in regards to weather, and I've been in a bit of a funk I think because of it. Sometimes it's nice just to get out of the house!
- Speaking of house - a sturdy home! The day after the spring equinox we had a winter storm. The morning after we woke to sounds of cracking - there were large branches and small trees everywhere! Later that morning we heard a boom and low a behold, a tree fell on the garage. We were lucky enough to only have a few roof tiles break and no major damage. The first photo below is of our tall trees in the back yard - the top of the tree that fell is visible from the back of the house!
- Being (for the most part!) prepared when our power went out for a couple of days. It again reinforced how lucky we are to have a wood stove and also a creek on our property.
- Routine. Hazel has been falling into somewhat of a routine and taking longer afternoon naps and most nights sleeping well between feedings. That wasn't the case when she was cooing and laughing at 5:30 this am - but yes, I am still thankful for that. :)
- NAPS. Who knew how lovely naps are? We had a lovely family nap the other day that lasted three hours, all three of us sleeping the entire time! H always wakes up so giddy after a good sleep.
- My wonderful husband who has spent many days cleaning up the property after last weeks storms. He got a majority of the tree off of our roof by himself and already cut most of it up for firewood next year.
- Our wonderful hens each laying one egg a day! We're back to making all sorts of delicious goodness with our eggs and gifting them to friends as well!
- Learning about elimination communication and starting to use it with Hazel. It sounded pretty far fetched when I first heard about it but today alone we've caught half a dozen pees over the potty and her diapers are often dry when she wakes up from naps! I love being so in tune with her, learning her cues and she actually seems to enjoy it too!
- Finally getting the gumption to go out with just Hazel and myself! We got groceries and went to my workplace to introduce her to everyone. Yes, it took me nearly two months to go out and about with just her and no daddy.
- Finally feeling like I'm having more energy and "back to normal." Today marks two months since Hazel's birth and the first 4 weeks were especially tiring; my physical symptoms from the birth were especially taking a toll, albeit not having any complications. It really wasn't until after 6 weeks that I felt normal. Let's hope it keeps up!
- Quiet days around the house. I'm really trying to savor them.
What have you felt grateful for this week?

What a wonderful update! My husband and I dream of having a house with trees, water, and animals. It seems that you're living our dream! I am glad you're feeling back to normal. Your little Hazel is adorable. :)
I hope you'll keep us updated on the EC. My SIL is trying it out and it seems really interesting!

I remember that first outing on my own...you have to work up to that one.
I love naps!
Elimination communication sounds amazing...I wish I had done that with my girls when they were babies.
What a beautiful little girl.
Much love.

Hi April!!
Thanks for posting your link! Just got home from a town trip.
Hazel is such a love!! What a cutie. I love getting to see pictures of her.
I love your gratitude list!
Yes, getting out of the house can be so nice.
Glad your house was okay from the storms!
Glad you have your woodstove for heat when the power goes out. We are always so grateful for that too. Do you get your water from the creek when it goes out?
We don't have a creek here to get water from.
Family naps are the best. Naps are just divine. Never thought I'd be a napper, but Bracken taught me different. :)
Eggs... how wonderful!
Would you still like to borrow the elimination communication book?
We are planning on being at Saturday Market this weekend. Would LOVE to see you guys if you feel inspired to visit.
Love, Taryn
