On being thankful

I feel as if I'm always apologizing for my insane tardiness regarding this blog. So would a simple I'm sorry and I'll do better next time work for you? I hope so.
It's been an odd week. A good friend of mine's partner of twenty years left her yesterday, and my best friend is about to end an unhappy marriage as well. Another dear friend's mother passed. Tonight at work a friend/coworker had her baby completely unmedicated. And they are all so amazing. Such different life experiences yet they all inspire me in different ways with their courage and their strength. To everything there is a season, turn turn turn.
Last week B and I spent Thanksgiving together, just the two of us. We hiked through snowy forests by our house and devoured an apple and sage turkey with all of the fixins. The weather is the culprit for this solo thanksgiving, but it was still beautiful.
And despite this equator of a season I'm emotionally stuck in, I am thankful for:
- the scent of pine
- the soundtrack to 'Motorcycle Diaries'
- my darling and his knack for reading my mind
- not to mention his amazing cooking (he even baked the other day!)
- two days of sunshine
- options
- friends that inspire me
- our collection of ornaments and beautiful tree
- property allowing me to watch deer in the morning, not a neightbor in sight, while quietly sipping my coffee
A time to dance, a time to mourn
There is a season, turn turn turn
