Flashback Friday: February 2012 & sleep regression
Posted on | September 6, 2013 | 2 Comments
Hazel was just a week old or so here. I've been revisiting her newborn days lately for a couple of reasons.
We're smack dab in the middle of sleep regression (or something?) these days. Like up every 2-3 hour newborn wake ups. Since about 18 months our girl has decided sleep is overrated, and that she wants the boob all night. Problem is, mom doesn't really have much milk at night. So it leads to a screaming fits, waking up, restlessness, etc.
I'm kind of a zombie these days. A fulfilled & happy one, but still a zombie. Night weaning is on the horizon, but not something I want to do a mere 3 weeks before our Europe trip where all our hard work would be forgotten by jet lag and a 9 hour time difference.
It's amazing how lack of sleep affects you (or me, I guess). I feel like B and I don't get along when we've had a rough night. It's all about who got more sleep & how the other one can catch up. It's about blame, what "we" did wrong.
Anyone else out there have a kiddo who could care less about sleep? Or a nursing relationship gone south? I'm open to any and all advice. Maybe once I get a good night zzz I'll update this blog more often.

Oh man, I am so sorry. Both my kids were terrible sleepers and I know how hard sleep deprivation can be on you, your parenting and your marriage!
One thing to keep in mind is that it is all just a phase... sometimes they are a long and super annoying phase, but one day she will sleep through the night again.
Phoebe went through a point at around 14 months maybe (I really can't remember for sure) where she was waking up to nurse every 30-45 minutes. We ended up moving her out of our bed and into a crab pulled up next to our bed, AND, it helped a ton! I think just not smelling the milk kept her asleep more. Obviously before a trip to Europe is not the best time, and maybe you are in a family bed and want to stay there, but that was what finally worked for us. Sorry for the long winded post! Hope you get some rest!!

YES!
Nalah wakes up 4-6 times a night and has since she was born 18 months ago. I have yet to sleep through the night. We co-sleep and my husband is out of state all week so it is all on me to get her settled down. I really need to night wean I am starting to really not enjoy nursing at all these days so I am hoping she will cooperate. I nursed my other two children until they were two years old but I don't think I can make it that long this time. I need sleep so bad!I am one exhausted mama.
It is nothing you are doing wrong all babies are different. My son was an awesome sleeper, but my girls, not fun at all. HUGS!!!
