Pumpkins, squash, apples, oh my!

Posted on | October 28, 2010 | 2 Comments

It's autumn at the Christopher house & the very un-domestic yours truly decided to throw a autumn-themed party tomorrow night.  My hands tingle as I type this from the powerful leaf blower I attached myself to the last two hours; a silly attempt to make five acres of dense woods in late October presentable.  I now sit here eating leftover curry & Halloween candy (a winning combination), staring at the two pumpkins I have left to carve while my pumpkin pie and cookie recipes hover nearby; a bleak reminder I must finish all of this tonight.  And tomorrow - well tomorrow I will try to make my house spotless while making ribs, a seasonal salad, and squash-leaf canapes (I didn't even know what canapes were until yesterday, am I alone here?).

Give me some tips on hosting a successful party, pllllease?

i am terrible at hosting parties but wish i could come to yours!! it sounds like it's going to be a blast :) i guess the one thing i try to do is go with the flow. like, when we had people over last xmas and the hot cider spilled all over my stove, no biggie. or when b cut through the turkey pan and got turkey juice every.where. (omg.) i wanted to freak out but why? i just went with it, haha. i'd rather people not remember me freaking out and instead remember, i dunno, just about anything else, haha :)

(ok, my best tip is to do all cleaning/decorating any day BUT the day of the party. b and i are terrible about this and by the time people show up, we're exhausted.)

    (i hope i don't sound like a mom, hahaha)

    xoxo, em
