Music, eat, breathe.

In the mood for a breath of fresh air, a pacific-northwest singer/songwriter I adore? Her music is drenched in wood smoke, sunlight, pollinators, pastoral dales, fireworks and warm nights; her lyrics explore the dichotomy between one’s desire for permanence and security and the realization that such things rarely exist. Her name? Laura Veirs, the new album July Flame. Love. She's a bit like Ani Difranco & Ingrid Michaleson rolled into one.
How about a taste of scottish folk rock? We were promised Jetpacks is a welcome change to the alternative scene, young lads (haha) that won a battle of the bands contest. The lead singers accent makes you leave repeat on the ipod or cd player for hours. If you like them, listen to Frightened Rabbit for a similar feel.

If you're aching for the classic taste of Van Morrison or Cat Stevens, or a contemporary feel for folk Ray Lamontagne, then Nick Drake is your man. The album Pink Moon recorded in the early 70'is a hidden gem filled with acoustic guitar and lovely piano. You won't be disappointed.
I've been awakened by these artists lately; there's something about music that will always feed me. I hope sharing this inspires you as well.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. The one thing I don't like about blogger is that I can't directly respond to comments on my blog. At least not that I've figured out how to.
And thanks for the music suggestions. I'm going to definitely check out these albums.
